The appearance of many fireplaces, whether wood or gas, can frequently be enhanced with the addition of a set of glass doors. Door are available in a multitude of finishes, including polished brass, satin brass, antique brass, nickel, copper, antique bronze, pewter, wrought iron and many others. They can be custom made to fit any fireplace opening, with cabinet or bifold doors and rectangular or arched openings.. The efficiency of wood burning fireplaces can frequently be increased by using glass doors to reduce the heat loss up the chimney while the fireplace is operating or cold air coming down the chimney into the house when the fire is out. Protective screens are required over any fireplace opening into the firebox when the fireplace is in operation to prevent sparks from escaping from the fireplace or foreign objects being put into the fireplace. Screens are usually included with glass doors, but can also be ordered separately in a wide variety of attractive designs. |
